(New York – June 8, 2023) New York City parent-led education advocacy group, PLACE NYC, is pleased to announce our endorsements for the June 2023 New York City Council Primary Election. Our endorsements include the rank for Ranked Choice Voting.
PLACE NYC’s Elections Working Group determines endorsement primarily on the candidate’s education positions and the alignment with our accelerated education advocacy; we take into account the candidate’s experience and track record of supporting high quality education in NYC schools.
“Parent volunteers at PLACE did the work of vetting candidates for their commitment to high quality education and expanding access to accelerated programs. We hope voters will take this into consideration as they head to the polls starting June 17 with early voting.” said Heidi Chan-Sarantopoulos, a member of the PLACE Elections Working Group.
“Our community counts on us to do this work. Many place a quality, rigorous education as their top issue in local elections,” added Craig Slutzkin, PLACE NYC Treasurer. Early voting dates: June 17-25, primary election day is June 27th.
