PLACE NYC Endorses Education Candidates for November 2023 City Council Races

(New York – August 30, 2023) New York City parent-led education advocacy group, PLACE NYC, is pleased to announce our endorsements for the November 7, 2023 New York City Council General Election.

PLACE NYC’s Elections Working Group determines endorsement primarily on the candidate’s education positions and the alignment with our accelerated education advocacy; we take into account the candidate’s experience and track record of supporting high quality education in NYC schools.

“NYC public school education has been moving in the wrong direction by lowering standards and expectations resulting in lower academic outcomes and significant enrollment loss. We need City Council members who have the fortitude to stand up and prioritize students’ academic education, fix our schools and improve the curricula being taught so that all students across the entire learning spectrum are prepared to meet any academic challenge they may face.” said Lucas Liu, PLACE NYC co-founder and a member of the PLACE Elections Working Group.

“We are proud that NYC families count on us to know the local politics of public education. Our citywide parent community relies on us to give them an authentic take on who to vote for, and we take that responsibility seriously,”  added Craig Slutzkin, PLACE NYC Treasurer.

Early voting dates: October 28 – November 5. General election day is Tuesday, November 7.
