This post was inspired by an email from a district 2 parent:
“Thank you for leading the parents of NYC who hope for the best for all the children in the city. I woke up in October about this issue – until then, I didn’t think DOE can scrap such popular and successful programs like G&T, middle schools and SHSAT schools. These schools have historically given opportunity for students of color to be uplifted. DOE should expand these programs and outreach throughout the 5 Boroughs, instead of scrapping them.
I think most parents still think DOE cannot make such a dramatic change, and even if they do it, it is the special case for this year. For those who are finally “waking up” now, I thought it may help if there is a link to all the petitions going around for the same intent, so they know what the action items are. So I made a list of the link below.”
